Although the BLINK and MARQUEE tags are generally deprecated (and annoying), this 2.x example demonstrates how to update text dynamically by blinking, scrolling or alternating it. It uses a custom field (assumes i:General:NewtonScript preference is set to Compile) and one of three custom attributes:

BLINK
number of milliseconds between highlighting/unhighlighting the field
MARQUEE
number of milliseconds between scrolling text left by 1 character; when empty, starts over
ALT
number of milliseconds between replacing field by next item (comma separated entries in original VALUE)
