Your 2.x InOut box normally opens to In Box. However, some applications might change this preference to Out Box. In particular, earlier versions of Newt's Cape inadvertently did this when you selected a mailto: link -- trying to be helpful by showing your outgoing message in the Out Box.
Newt's Cape 2.0b-2 (and later) no longer changes this system preference, but if it's already been changed, you could use this form (from Newt's Cape) to fix it -- if so, Newt's Cape's preference: i:General:NewtonScript must be set to Compile for this form to work.
If you use a soup editor instead: backup; select the System soup; find the entry whose tag slot is 'ioBox; change the whichSoup slot to 'inBox
