Info for Registered Sloup (and NewtDevEnv/Newt's Cape) Users
What's New
Many external links may be obsolete -- if you have updates, please send.
There may be problems with .pkg files (esp. for Mac OS X); safest to use .zip archives.

BYE!
any German Sloup users with old OS (D-1.11) using recent Sloup?
(one user seems to be able to run Sloup 1.8 but nothing newer).
- 12 Feb: If you are using HyperNewt, be extra careful about specifying folders for ERASE!,
since apparently everything is "Unfiled". (I may look into providing access to HyperNewt's folder scheme).
Currently, you cannot install a new version of the Sloup package using Sloup. I know how to do this (Newt's Cape):
put pkg into Inbox; or quit, remove old package, install new package -- but unless this is a major problem for someone,
this is low priority.
- 11 Jan: Sloup docs as books now available
- 9 Jan: Sloup 2.1 (finally) released!. .pkg and additional 2.1 (N,~G) versions
Introduction
These pages and files are only for Registered Users of Sloup
(and NewtDevEnv and Newt's Cape).
Check here periodically for new versions and tools -
this page is kept small for faster viewing, especially on Newton.

Bug Reporting
To help me resolve problems with Sloup most quickly, I would appreciate the following information:
- error code number; if convenient, include an error trace using Bug Trap
- command/actions prior to the error
- the version of Sloup you were using
- the model MessagePad and OS version
- type of communication connection
- anything else I should know about your configuration (extensions, etc.)
Note: you might also check first if this is a known problem
(sometimes reported at top of this page,
or on main sloup page),
or if it's something already fixed in a newer beta.
Sloup 2.2h-2 (5 Sep)
- (English .pkg only;
if this introduces no new problems and if time permits, I may upload .sit.hqx, .zip and other non-English versions;
I may create a public eval version)
- Notes/Newtworks can include other slots in entrySpec,
and additional data (tab-delimited) in first line (formerly only title);
other slots includes anything other than labels, viewFont, class, height.
This might be useful to add information for applications that extend Notes,
or for sync apps that need to restore other Notes slots (DUMP already worked),
e.g., Notes2Notes (MS Outlook).

Sloup 2.2 (.pkg)
Sloup 2.2 (.zip)
This is useful if you are transferring information that contains encoded characters,
i.e., different languages/character sets,
for example, Japanese and Chinese. Let me know if you have/find URLs for Big5.
These are the same versions as for registered Newt's Cape user,
so no need to re-download. If Encoding plugin is installed, an Encoding button appears
to left of Sound picker, above AutoConnect checkbox.
