I've begun to experiment with a Zaurus Linux-based handheld that supports Java;
although it doesn't currently have as many apps or loyal users, or as sophisticated an interface
as the Newton, it does have some powerful new hardware, more developers, more cross-platform tools,
and (I think) a promising future.
CrozzWord crossword puzzle application -- also available for Windows and Macintosh and phones!
26 Feb: Peter Rand's updated help doc/book.
I am still distributing and supporting my shareware applications,
with priority on bug fixes and answering questions for registered users.
Future revisions/features depend on
ongoing registrations/upgrades/encouragement
my free time (after increased non-Newton consulting...)
1.x/2.x; web browse; create books with text, graphics, links, tables and forms from HTML
documents via TCP (2.x: using Newton Internet Enabler (NIE))
or in your Notepad, Inbox, Newtworks or over a serial connection.
(co-developed with Greg Simon) [shareware]
versions available to registered users in Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Russian
2.x; HTML list authoring tool using Notes outlines, converts Notes/Newtworks docs to HTML,
saves books to HTML or Newtworks;
add "text routing" to regular and help books, e.g., Beam, Mail, Speak (former RouteBook functionality).
noted here mainly for coolness/completeness -- it's more practical to install/run a prebuilt Newton .pkg
however, if you have the WabaVM, and waba and wextra libraries installed, if the app uses the Waba subset of Java,
and its .jar file is uncompressed, it is possible to run applets directly from web
(e.g., Worm or any of my apps)
1.x/2.x; Newt application tutorial shows how you can develop a
simple application in NewtonScript directly on your Newton using Newt
(interactive book created with Newt's Cape) [freeware]
1.x/2.x; Newt turtle tutorial show how you can use turtle graphics and
Logo-style programming on your Newton using Newt

1.x/2.x; utility for transferring tab-delimited data or text documents(Notes, outlines, checklists,Newtworks)
between desktop files and Newton "soups" (object-oriented databases); it directs
keyboard input to fields, and prints values and errors to desktop "inspector" window. [freeware].
1.x/2.x; move disks from one stack to another, or just watch the Newton solve it for you
(application created with NewtDevEnv, help book created with Newt's Cape) [freeware]

NTK source code to create an about box that contain active URLs, and a dynamic help book from HTML [freeware]
Note about Files
Let me know if you find any URLs that don't work (on this or my other pages)
or you have suggestions for other information or URLs I should include.
Most files are available as ascii Binhexed, Stuffit (sit.hqx)
and binary Zip (.zip), via http and ftp; some .pkg files are available via http.
For downloading large files via web browser, you may want to set your preference to Save
(rather than View) the file. Site and format info:
In the unlikely event that you encounter a problem with one of my packages ;-),
to help me locate/understand/explain/fix it more quickly,
I would appreciate the following information:
error code number; if convenient, include an error trace using Bug Trap
command/actions prior to the error
the version of the package you were using
the model MessagePad and OS version
anything else I should know about your configuration (extensions, NIE, etc.)
Note: you might also check first if this is a known problem
reported on that package's page or fixed in a newer version/beta.
NewtDevEnv: $25 (upgrade, or student registration: $10)
Newt's Cape: $20 (upgrade, or student registration: $10)
NewtDevEnv and Newt's Cape (bundle): $40
Sloup and Crypto are now free
If someone sells you his/her registered copy of NewtDevEnv or Newt's Cape,
there is a $10 upgrade fee to cover administrative/support costs.
For students, if you don't use a .edu address, I'll ask you to confirm status.
Note: if you're registering for Newt's Cape, it's fine
to register for version "1.5" -- the upgrade to 2.0/2.1 is free.
If you don't hear from me a few days after registering, there's a possibility that I'm travelling --
check this web page for news about prolonged absences.
If you haven't received a confirmation email from me after a few days,
it's possible that you may have entered an incorrect email address -- contact me to see if I've
received it but couldn't contact you either...
